AGITATOR - BB4

Agitator Mpeg (1.3MB)

Agitator started out as PyRAMidrone, but Becky said the whole PyRAM...etc theme was getting too hard to say, so she renamed it. This BB heavy weight uses the same basic chassis construction as PyRAMidroid but without skirts and the weapon is a spinning arm with 4 lb splitting malls mounted on each end.The chassis is made out of laser cut cold rolled steel and TIG welded into place using 'slot and tab' construction for precision alignment of the various parts. All parts were powder-coated with my standard race team colors. It has four motors driving 6 Racing Go-Ped wheels using a two stage chain drive system. It weighs in a 196 lbs and has a top speed of 5 MPH. The arms are driven by a right-angle motor available from NPC and have an angular velocity of 40 MPH. Comments from those seeing it in compitition was that it was one of the fastest, best handling 'spinners' at Battlebots 4.0 Because it has the same four motor drive train as Pyramidroid, it is a good push-bot if the spinner fails. Agitator will be getting a new spinner motor, more armor, and stronger arms before BB 5.0. We lost in a TV round against Silverback because our arms got bent down when we were flung by the killsaws and were binding against the chassis. Rather than use the Futaba R/C system, Agitator now uses the IFI Issac 16 controller, as does all of my newer bots.

After Agitator, Becky instituted new safety policies around the Dojo. During testing we attacked a 3 foot tall CO2 cannister, and I became distracted when the cannister bounced off the neighbor's garage. Without watching where it was going, Agitator traveled on through Becky's flower bed, doing an early harvesting of the buds in full bloom. The following day she received an arrangement of flowers at her office, from all the roboteer onlookers.

After Fighting BB4.0

Sliced chassis and bent arms. Notice the angle iron
reinforcement on the chassis and arms. The welding was
done at BB's under the Lincoln Welding tent.
