January 5, 2008 - L2 Certification Flight - J motor

Slipstick II is based on a Performance Rocketry 3 inch diameter G3 kit with a 54mm motor mount with a 38mm Aerpack adapter. My modifications of this kit was to use dual deployment using redundant Missileworks RRC2X altimeters. The avionics bay contained both altimeters as well as a modified Garmin DC20 dog tracking GPS and MURS transmitter. The nose cone was modified to accept The entire rocket is made from G10 FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) and the fins were coated with an extra layer of 8oz FG cloth tip-to-tip. Slipstick I reached 3200 feet AGL on an Aerotech J350W motor and landed 800 yards east of the launch pad.

I took both NAR and TRA written tests while at the launch site and only missed one question.

SLIPSTICK II Build


Two more flights were performed Mar 3, 2008

Slipstick II was modified for a zipperless design and the GPS was moved into the nose cone. The rocket became about 10" longer. A J350W was flown followed by a J440W.
